Gear: USSR Army Canteen Set

As far as I know this "matryoshka" model was invented for USSR Airborne Forces (VDV) in late 50's and introduced to duty in 60's. It was designed to be lightweight and more compact than older infantry set. The set comprises of a canteen itself, a larger nesting cup and a smaller cup with a folding handle

The smaller cup's folding handle is used to lock all three parts when nested into each other.
Canteen's mouth is very narrow - standard US canteen mouth is considerably wider.

Neck thread is kind of crude, rough to operate and not entirely waterproof, so canteen is  additionally sealed with a  thin piece of cork (nevertheless mine piece still leaked a bit).
Both cups can be locked and carried around together, so you can have both soup and a main course served simultaneously.

There is also different version, in which middle cup has a loop for hanging over fire. Unfortunately I've never owned that version. I it would be preferred for bushcraft-like use over a campfire, while the first version is more practical when field mess is present.
